WestCord Fashion Hotel supports War Child

…. and offers the chance to win a unique piece of Dutch art.

WestCord Fashion Hotel is participating in a project to raise money for War Child.
War Child is an organisation that works towards a world in which children are never involved in armed conflicts. The organisation believes that children should be supported to enjoy their right to healthy psychosocial development and live a dignified life. War Child’s goal is to empower children and young people in war-affected areas through community-based programs, which strengthen their psychological and social development and well-being.
The WestCord Fashion Hotel supports this initiative by exhibiting a typical Dutch canal house in the lobby. The small house is customized by a Dutch artist and is covered in bright pink fabric and painted flowers.

From July until December hotel guests and visitors can donate just 1 Euro into the canal house, including name and address. Not only is War Child supported by this, people also has a chance to win the unique customized Dutch canal house.
All costs of transportation are covered, so do not hesitate to be one of the potential owners of an exclusive piece of Dutch art, AND support children in war-affected areas to process trauma and be a child again.

We invite everybody, also the ones that just stop by the Fashion Hotel, to donate 1 euro and help us in raising money for War Child.

What a diversity! Spring and summer styles that expand their lifetime to the cold days, new trends coming up and history is making its comeback. Love all the different styles we will see this autumn and winter.

Monochrome
The monochrome style was clearly present on the catwalks this season. Using shades, gothic blacks and bondage-style straps, the collections have an edgy side to it. Though the materials as lace, leather and latex, and details as suspenders, the new sexy is fewer nudes and more covering. Think of highly closed blouses. The monochrome trend is seen at Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen and Pucci. 

Androgyny
Girls will be boys in this new androgynous fashion trend. The style includes a mastered masculine touch with the sharply tailored and oversized suits, injected with sexy and feminine accents. Lets go Marlene Dietrich!
Seen at the shows of Stella McCartney, Celine and Balenciaga.

Texture
This style means more is more! Texture is all or nothing this season. Now it is your chance to combine sequins, suede and fur all together.
Don’t hesitate to mix tweeds and knits with lace, leather and soft fur. You can even add pom poms and plastic details for a fun edge.
The texture trend is seen at Marni and Fendi.

Colour
Autumn runways picked up where spring stopped. Colour isn’t going to leave fashion land yet. Vivid primary colours break up black and brighten autumnal shades. Especially reds were seen at Jaeger and Jonathan Saunders.

What a great night it was! The crowd, the designs, the models, the music, the booze and bites. The atmosphere was great, beautiful, fashionable, openminded people, all gathered at the Open Your Mind and See fashion show.

I'm in fashion love - Maella One of a Kind

The beautiful leather collection of Maella One of a Kind is exhibited in the WestCord Fashion Hotel. I love it. Big time.


For this collection Maella choose to work with soft lamb leather, coming from Marocco, where she produced most of the designs.
Gorgeous bags, dresses, shorts and belts are all part of the collection.
Besides the leather items, the collection also includes catsuits made of very light and fluid materials. Maella's inspiration is the sensuality of women, and her designs definitely bring that part of femininity forward.
For this collection she used two colors: midnight blue and orange, which creates a powerful feeling. Midnight blue symbolism of importance and confidence and Orange for vitalitity, endurance and happiness.

Next to the clothing, Maella designed an exclusive python collection. The skins come directly from Vietnam and the establishment is performed in Lebanon. For Maella working with python is her favorite: timeless and beautiful. Therefore she enlarged the collection with hair accessories, bracelets, belts, wallets, bags. 
Each Python piece is delivered with the certificate of authenticity. 

It is a pleasure working with Maella. She is such an inspiring, creative woman, making beautiful things. I cannot wait to see more of her future collections and design. And I'm curious what our co-operation will bring next.
